ARON
HILL:
ARTIST TALK
Saturday August 1, 2 p.m.
Free
A graduate of the Alberta
College of Art and Design, Aron Hill’s
paintings and drawings are distinguished by experimentation
based on unusual combinations of styles and techniques. He
is known for colour-washed images of architectural shapes as
well as his series of finely rendered Audubon-like drawings
of birds, whose forms are nonetheless often deliberately anatomically
incorrect. Hill’s talk
will explore the meaning behind these latter images, in which
the viewer is aware of a tension between detachment and a kind
of subjective surrender of the self, a tension that might be
called Contemporary Romanticism.
