JENNIFER KOSTUIK GALLERY
GROUP SHOW FEATURING KUMIKO FUJINAMI
Kumiko Fujinami and others
July — August
"Art making, to me, is equivalent to freedom and revelation. I use colour, lines and brush strokes to free myself from everything that tries to tie me down to practical logics. These three tools are indispensible in my work. By using them I can wander around the world and get to a quiet place where I feel I belong."
- Kumiko Fujinami, artist statement
Fujinami is one of several artists featured at the Jennifer Kostuik Gallery during DRAWN 2011. Established in 1997, the gallery brings together artists who explore similar themes and aesthetic approaches, creating a relevant cross section of current interests and concerns. The gallery artists' works address the various ways in which the contemporary mindset has altered nature and our relationship to it.
